We still haven’t quite made it round all the nearby historic estates and countryside trails and therefore don’t feel qualified to write a guide to the local walks.

So we thought we’d give you a list of the many other interesting places and activities in and around the area, including the last working example of an 18th-century industrial building and the production site for a well-known clear spirit, plus other great options like a dramatic period residence and sweeping chalk downland for you to explore the local heritage and natural beauty.
